On 26-27 August 2016, one week before the football competition between RSM offices from all over Europe, which we are hosting this year, five of our competitors, within the framework of improving their physical fitness, hiked through Beskid Śląski, around its highest peak, Skrzyczne 1257 m asl.
Aleksandra Dusza (Payroll), Arkadiusz Budkiewicz (DPKR) along with Łucja Padrak, Mateusz Lemańczyk and Piotr Staszkiewicz (everyone from the Audit Department) left at the crack of dawn from Poznan and Warsaw, to get to Szczyrk by 11:00 am and begin the hike that was aimed not only at improving their physical condition before the tournament, but also integrating the interdisciplinary team.
In the course of the first hike going through Skrzyczne, Przełęcz Salmopolska, Kotarz, Przełęcz Karkoszczonka to the shelter in Klimczok, the participants hiked close to 22 km of mountainous trails, where there was no lack of steep climbs and moments of doubt. Nevertheless, cooperation among the team, mutual support and strategic discussions allowed our competitors to achieve their aim just before the sunset.
The next part of the "boot camp" took place the following morning with a jog up to the top of Klimczok - 1117 m asl at the sunrise (6:00 am!), going back to the base, breakfast and then another 8 km through Magura in the direction of the city. Our representatives did over 30 km in total, facing steep climbs, rocky trails in river basins as well as the hot weather, which accompanied them for two days. Tired but happy, they returned with a positive outlook towards the upcoming tournament and were ready for any upcoming integration "trips".
Perhaps, preparation for the RSM European Football Tournament 2016 will prove to be the beginning of reactivation of the informal "Mountain Desk” at RSM?
